Next time you are in the shop pick up three #6 Irons: one with a compact head, a mid-size head and an oversize Iron head. Now lay them down alongside each other almost in the address position. Certain golfers will get a much more comfortable feeling with the compact head. Lay a golf ball alongside the club head and notice the relationship between the ball and the club head. The small head size and very thin top line will be brought home to you.
