Trigger finger - works well for pitching with sw, introduce a bit of it in longer clubs as well. Stay well inside, easy swing, no power attempts. Early hinge with right wrist. Submitted by admin on Sat, 2009-04-11 16:14.
One piece take-away Personal take-away from video: too upright, bend more in hips, back straight, head up. Submitted by admin on Sun, 2009-04-05 16:06.
First round of the season at the Migros Course in Holzhäusern, 9 holes - I like this course, but the greens were absolutely terrible today, and they charged full fees, and did't even let on about the problem beforehand - I hate that kind of taking advantage of people. Anyway, the weather was very nice, but my swing is pretty rusty - I've lost a lot of distance over the winter period. Back to the driving range... Ah, and a final thought - be very careful on the 9th, there is a completely unprotected children's playground to the right off the tee, right in the way of your slice. I guess they wi Submitted by admin on Thu, 2009-03-12 12:28.
Just got back from a golf tour in South Africa, organized by Cape to Kruger Golf Tours. This was the best golf holiday I've had in a long time, Colin, our guide from Cape to Kruger Golf Tours was just great, and we all had a fantastic time - I thought for a while that I might win the tour tournament, but Larry just beat me in the end. We played Kingswood (long...), Bramble Hill (great course!), Devonvale (good warmup course to start things off, very friendly staff)and Mossel Bay (lovely views). Strongly recommended, excellent value for money. Submitted by admin on Fri, 2008-05-02 20:54.
Played my first 18 holes for 2008 in Holzhäusern. Consiously used as little right hand as possible, which accomplished two things 1) Avoided strain and pain in right arm 2) Really helped to get that sweeping feeling back into the swing. Much improved contact, even 2 perfect 3-wood shots. Good distance, bit less han normal but not much, straighter but not always yet. Will try and rebuild me swing around this principle. To improve rotation and avoid injury to right arm, keep right elbow down and in (head cover under arm). Keep right hand very light on the grip to avoid impact strain. Submitted by admin on Thu, 2007-08-30 06:50.
During my stay in Ireland this summer, I played the Lee Valley Golf and Country Club, not far from Cork, just follow the road to Macroom and you will see the signs after about 20 minutes. Arrive early during the week, and the course will be very quiet, and you'll get the early bird discount before 10:00 at EUR 35, which is well worth it. Very friendly staff, nice clubhouse, great course, thoroughly enjoyable. Submitted by admin on Thu, 2007-07-12 10:25.
Had a lesson with Franco today at the Golf Club in Bubikon to try and address my hooking tendencies. Very good, to the point practical advice from Franco. Take-aways:

Very warm April weather - nice round of golf. Ok on 1st nine, terrible on 2nd. Anyway, played with Uwe, who considers making baseball-warmup swing essential to hitting a good drive - pretty solid thinking really, fits in nicely with my current learnings about trying to pacify the hands. The essence of the approach being that the wrists are passive, the club (bat) pulls them around, no active movements. Must try this out. Got good drives of early hinging, slow backswing, aligning writst perpendicular, easy swing. Submitted by admin on Mon, 2007-04-09 07:03.
First 18 holes of the season - Otelfingen. Fairways not great yet, but greens ok. Not a particularly strong round, I've got a lot of strong draw into my swing (again), but some good shots, not too bad for the beginning of the season I guess, really enjoyed being out on the course again. Otelfingen is a nice starter course, flat, not much trouble, water in play on a fair few holes. Not much variety. |
