Webb shares lead after two rounds at Ginn Tribute

golf

Karrie Webb shot a 66 Friday and shared the lead at 13 under with Sophie Gustafson (65) after two rounds of the Ginn Tribute. Annika Sorenstam also had a 66, her lowest score in six career rounds at RiverTowne Country Club, and moved from a tie for 60th Thursday into a tie for eighth. Sorenstam was seven shots behind, but at least she still was part of the tournament that she hosts - something that looked doubtful midway through Friday's round.

Goggin, Perry tied at top of Memorial leaderboard

golf

The first sign of hope at the Memorial came from the scoreboard, which showed Mathew Goggin coming back to the pack after a blazing start. The second sign came from the gray skies that promised some relief from a brutal test of golf. Goggin birdied four of the first five holes before strapping in for a wild ride of birdies and bogeys that ultimately added to an even-par 72 that left him tied for the lead with two-time champion Kenny Perry, who recovered from a rugged start for a 71.

Lewis, Walshe lead Americans at Curtis Cup

golf

Former NCAA champion Stacy Lewis and Alison Walshe stayed perfect on the Old Course, hanging on to win the final fourball match Saturday to give the Americans a 7 1/2-4 1/2 lead in the Curtis Cup. Lewis, who won the NCAA title at Arkansas last year, played all four team matches over two days and won them all, but the final one might have been the most important.

The 31-year-old Australian, who began the day with a four-stroke lead, shot 2-under 69 to reach 15-under for the tournament. He led Spanish tour rookie Alvaro Velasco, who shot a third-round 68, on the Celtic Manor Twenty Ten course.

Price blew a two-shot lead in the final round of the FedEx Kinko's Classic in early May. He will enter Sunday's final round at Glen Oaks Country Club with a 6-under 136 total. Gustafson takes control at Ginn Tribute

golf

Sophie Gustafson shot a 67 Saturday to push past a faltering Karrie Webb and take a six-stroke lead into the final round of the Ginn Tribute. Tournament host Annika Sorenstam, meanwhile, continued to struggle at her namesake event with a 75. No one could keep up with Gustafson in the third round. Tied with Webb when the round began, Gustafson started quickly with an eagle and two birdies her first six holes to go four up on the Australian Hall of Famer.
